Just Breathe is built to be a calm, private place. This page explains exactly what the website and the Chrome extension do — and do not do — with your data. The short answer: almost nothing.
The short version
We don't collect your personal data. There are no accounts and no ads. We use Google Analytics only if you accept it in the cookie banner — nothing loads until you do, and you can withdraw anytime. Apart from that, nothing you do in Just Breathe is sent to us or to anyone else.
The website (justbreathe.cc)
The site is served as static files. Your chosen language is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) so the site remembers it between visits — that value never leaves your device. If you accept in the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, which sets analytics cookies; if you decline, no analytics and no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice anytime via "Cookie settings" in the footer. Fonts are self-hosted and served from our own site, so your browser makes no request to Google Fonts or any other third party for them.
The Chrome extension
The extension stores your preferences — chosen language and reminder settings — locally on your device via the browser's storage. Breathing reminders run entirely on your device using the browser's alarm and notification features; nothing is transmitted anywhere. The extension requests only the storage, alarms, and notifications permissions. It has no access to your browsing history, the pages you visit, your tabs' content, or any other site data. If you turn on the optional reminder to breathe while pages load, the extension only detects that a page is taking a while to load — never its address or content — and even that stays on your device.
What we never do
We never sell or share your data, never track you across other websites, and never show ads. Analytics runs only if you opt in, and even then it is limited to understanding how the site is used. There is no server that receives your breathing activity, because there is no such server.
Changes & contact
If this policy changes, the date above will reflect the latest version. Questions about your privacy on Just Breathe can be raised through justbreathe.cc.
Controller
The controller responsible for data processing on this website is Petar Markovic, Roonstr. 16, 12203 Berlin, Germany — email hello@justbreathe.cc. The same details appear in our Imprint.
Hosting & server logs
The website is delivered as static files through our hosting and content-delivery provider (Cloudflare, Inc.). When you visit, that provider may automatically process standard server-log data — your IP address, date and time of the request, the resource requested, the referrer, and your browser and operating system — to deliver the site and keep it secure and available. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in a secure, functioning website). This data is not combined with other sources and is not used to identify you.
Local storage on your device
Your language choice (and, in the browser extension, your reminder settings) is stored locally on your device via the browser's storage. It is functional, never transmitted to us, and not used for tracking, so it needs no consent. Analytics cookies are separate and require your consent — see below.
Analytics (Google Analytics)
With your consent, this website uses Google Analytics 4, a web-analytics service of Google Ireland Ltd. (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). It helps us understand how the site is used — for example which pages are visited, approximate region, and device and browser type — so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) and processes usage data including a shortened IP address; IP anonymisation is applied by GA4 by design. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA, relying on the EU Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and Google's certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Legal basis: your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. Nothing is loaded until you click "Accept" in the cookie banner, and you can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future via "Cookie settings" in the footer (you may also use Google's opt-out browser add-on). We enable no advertising features and do not combine analytics data with any other data. Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
No ads or cross-site tracking
We show no advertising, use no advertising cookies, and never track you across other websites. Fonts are self-hosted, so no data is sent to Google Fonts. Aside from consent-based analytics and our hosting/CDN provider, no data is shared with third parties.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and to object (Art. 21). To exercise any of these, contact the controller above. Because we do not maintain user accounts or store personal data on a server, in most cases we hold no personal data about you to act on.
Right to lodge a complaint
You may lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority. For our location this is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit).
